“Shum” is a modern Ukrainian folk song which is inspired by an ancient Ukrainian spring song and roundelay dance with the same name. “Vesnyanochka” means “spring song”. The word “shum” means noise in Ukrainian, but in many Slavic languages shum means “forest”. The song is divided into 2 sections in terms of singing. The words change as the song progresses, but we’re going to learn the first verse and the chorus.
